Safety is the number one priority of owner and president Joseph Freed. Since starting at KC Coring & Cutting 25 years ago as a shop manager he has helped to ensure that the best employees are hired and that the safest equipment and technology the industry has to offer is utilized. Through his years he has worked his way from shop manager to secretary, to co-owner, and is now the sole owner. The emphasis they have put on safe practices has allowed KC Coring & Cutting to earn the lowest EMR (experience modification rate) rating of any company in the industry as well as numerous safety awards.
While he’s proud of all his accomplishments with the company, Freed enjoys being able to provide jobs for his numerous employees and supporting local businesses. He sees his work team as a family, when he is not working he enjoys spending time with is wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family members. In his free time, you’ll find him attending his grandchildren’s activities, taking leisurely drives, or fly fishing.
Adam Bathgate began his career at KC Coring at a young age. Starting as a shop hand, fixing equipment , and tending to small laborer requirements of the company. Eventually promoting to operating one of the company’s fully equipped trucks. As time passed he became one of KC Coring’s trainers, Setting many standards within the concrete cutting industry, and helping to determine many safety practices, That are set in place today. Adam is certified with the Concrete Sawing and Drilling Industry training requirements, Furthermore has been certified thru The Coring and Cutting group Certified Operator training, and Certified in Silica dust awareness training. Adam has completed all OSHA requirements to be a leader in the Sawing and Drilling industry. Now, 21 years later he finds himself as the Vice President of Operations. Managing over 6,000 projects a year.
Adam has many responsibilities, which include HR duties , scheduling, determining ways to reduce costs, increase revenues, and improve the overall performance of the company. Engaging in high level negotiations to generate lucrative contracts in order to build better customer relations. Setting company goals and developing future business strategies.
Even though his position requires him to be available 24/7, he enjoys the fast paced atmosphere. His favorite part of spending his career at KC Coring is the people. He views his team as family. Feeling as, “It takes all of us to be successful.” In his time away from work family, you’ll find Adam at the lake spending time with his Wife, Daughter and Nephews. He enjoys hunting, fishing, boating, and spending as much time outdoors as he can.
Steve Wilson started working at KC Coring and Cutting 16 years ago as an apprentice. Currently, he serves the company as Vice President of sales, which comes with many responsibilities. Wilson has his hands on every project. His background in the field enables him to oversee job estimates for accuracy. He also makes sure that every team member has proper safety training and handles all internal safety processes.
Every workday brings new challenges to Wilson and his team. He loves how every job he oversees is different, but his favorite thing about his career is interacting with other staff members and clients.
Wilson enjoys spending time with his family when he’s not at work. He likes going to his grandkids’ soccer games and hanging out with family and friends.
“With over 17 years of field and estimating experience combined in the construction industry, Ernest began as a general laborer before becoming the lead estimator for KC Coring and Cutting. Ernest is the personification of hard work and dedication from hands-on, inquiry-based learning to long hours in the classroom. He’s been with the business for 16 years. Collins’ primary duties include bidding on jobs and managing the projects to completion. In fact, in 2020 alone, Ernest managed over 1,700 commercial projects successfully. A member of the American Society of Professional Estimators and a proud supporter of the Laborers Union, Ernest has a passion for meeting each customer’s needs on an individual basis. Ernest enjoys this challenging position, and he appreciates that no project is ever the same. Even though his favorite part of his job is that he encounters new challenges each day, he enjoys interacting with clients and team members.
