If we listed all of the services we provide in our company’s name, it would be much longer than “KC Coring and Cutting.” However, “KC Coring and Cutting, Concrete Core Drilling, Concrete Wall Sawing, Concrete Hand Sawing, Concrete Chain Sawing, Concrete Wire Sawing, Brokk Demolition, Concrete Curb Sawing, Concrete Grinding & Polishing, Ground Penetrating Radar, and Concrete Shot Blasting” would not fit on our sign.

Even though “Concrete Shot Blasting” is last on our list, we would like to discuss this service we provide. First, we’ll tell you when this service is used and then tell you the specs of our machinery. Finally, we’ll remind you why KC Coring and Cutting is the best for this type of service in Kansas City.

Shot Blasting in Kansas City: Why It’s Done
Shot blasting is used to give indoor or outdoor slabs of concrete a smooth, clean surface. The machines we use remove less than 1/16 inch off the top of a concrete surface, which is enough to remove any coating, adhesive, or chemicals.

This may sound like a specialty service, but concrete shot blasting is extremely helpful. It removes:

• rust from concrete surfaces

• grease, oil, or caked-on dirt from concrete

• paint from a concrete slab

The process is also used to prepare a concrete floor for further treatment, such as adding a coat of epoxy or urethane.

Sometimes concrete shot blasting is used to create a rougher surface area on concrete to reduce the likelihood of slip and falls.

Shot Blasting in Kansas City: Our Equipment

Shot blasters look like commercial rug cleaners. Our operators will slowly and methodically move the machine along the concrete surface while steel shots are propelled against it with high velocity. While it sounds as if the process would create a lot of dust and debris, the broken-up pieces and dust are collected into the machine – as are the steel shots, which are reused.

KC Coring and Cutting has the right equipment to complete indoor and outdoor projects.

The inside Electric Shot Blast can cover 4,000 to 6,000 square feet per day, and the blast head ranges between 10 and 15 inches.

The outdoor T-3000 Shot Blast used by KC Coring and Cutting has a higher work capacity, as it can blast between 12,000 to 15,000 square feet a day.

Besides bringing a suitable machine for the job, our crews will also help you determine what type of grit is appropriate for your project. For example, some projects call for a fine 280 grit, while others need a more abrasive 390 grit shot blast.

Why KC Coring and Cutting?

We know that the words “concrete shot blasting” aren’t anywhere in our company name. However, we at KC Coring and Cutting offer a one-stop-shop for all your concrete cutting, concrete sawing, and concrete grinding needs.

In fact, if you have a problem but you aren’t sure which of our services would fix your issue, contact KC Coring and Cutting. We will visit your job site and evaluate the situation to determine what type of service is best for the job.
